About Sarah Newman & DriftWood Flowers

Florist Sarah Newman, owner of Driftwood Flowers Chichester

About Sarah

The early years:

Sarah first placed flowers in a vase when she was knee high to a bluebell. School holidays and weekends spent with grandmothers dedicated to their gardens and walks along Cornish cliff tops gathering wildflowers meant that Sarah grew up with an innate understanding of the symbolism that perfect blooms can bring to any occasion.

Floristry was always going to be the perfect career choice for Sarah. Surprisingly, it came somewhat later in life than might have been expected. Sarah spent many years in the corporate world. Her senior roles within blue-chip companies meant that she spent her working week cultivating big brands rather than her much-loved garden.

Coming home:

It was eventually a change in personal circumstances, brought about by a family illness, that led Sarah to step away from her corporate lifestyle in 2010 and embrace what had always been her predestined path

For Sarah, stepping into her second career had all the comforts of coming home. Her time spent at college and under the tutelage of other inspirational floral designers combined with her naturally creative disposition meant that Driftwood Flowers soon became recognised as a leading West Sussex specialist florist for weddings, funerals and other occasions and events.

Sarah is the floral adviser and preferred supplier to West Dean College, an educational facility internationally recognised for excellence in conservation and arts education, with a very well-reknowned garden. She is also a contributor to the Chichester Cathedral Festival of Flowers, widely acclaimed as the ‘gold standard’ of flower festivals.

Working with Sarah at Driftwood Flowers

Sarah is the lead creative at Driftwood Flowers and gives every client her personal attention, from your first consultation right through to delivery on your special day. She offers a bespoke service, creating floral designs that are natural in style with a deeply textured look.

Sarah does not offer package pricing, because she believes your floral designs should be as unique as your event, but her strong business background means that she can work creatively within your budget.

Flowers shouldn’t cost the earth:

Sarah will source local British flowers whenever possible, these are also gathered from her own cutting garden, or local West Sussex hedgerows. She aims to avoid cellophane and foam, making sustainable choices wherever she can.

Driftwood Flowers serves the local Chichester area but also works throughout East Hampshire and South Surrey.

Over the last year Sarah has worked at many private homes, beautiful gardens and inspirational venues that include;

Farbridge

Upwaltham Barns

West Dean College

Tithe Barn

Bignor Park

Let Sarah tell your story in the language of flowers – Book a complimentary consultation.

“We would like to say a big THANK YOU for our beautiful flowers for our wedding day! They were STUNNING! We had so many compliments from our guests and all the table and jar flowers went to a good home at the end of the night! The colours were so bright and vibrant and I absolutely loved the addition of herbs and berries!!”
